The Forager’s Apprentice: September - Natural Fibers

In our 5 Month Pacific Northwest Foraging Apprenticeship, including this September Natural Fibers workshop, participants will learn to identify, harvest, and prepare wild plant fibers into tools and art. This particular workshop covers the identification and preparation of fiber and dye plants in the Pacific Northwest.

Through detailed, engaging plant studies along the trail, attendees acquire proficiency in identifying medicinal plant species of the Pacific Northwest bioregion. After a plant walk, we will dive into hands-on preparation of natural fibers into hand woven or dyed creations.

By taking part in the series as a whole, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed to identify and harvest native plants and fungi throughout various seasons in the Pacific Northwest.
